Peter Leidy has over 20 years of experience working for people with disabilities

Peter’s strong interest in direct support began with years of providing direct support himself (bio). He also spent many years recruiting, hiring, and supporting frontline staff. He identifies closely with these vital roles and does consulting, conference speaking, and workshops (not to mention singing) on issues related to:

• Direct Support Professionals
• Direct Service Workers
• Community Support Staff
• Caregivers
• and the myriad of job titles given to people who spend most of their time directly with people they support.

Peter believes that most people who provide direct support do not have enough opportunities to share their knowledge, talk with others about the meaning of their work, and just plain be heard. He likes to hear them and imagine together how they can do their best work, assist those they support to experience community membership, and be valued by those around them.
